Explore the peaceful riverside location and Sir Christopher Wren’s iconic architecture. The stunning buildings and extensive grounds tell a history that lists an incredible cast of monarchs and famous British figures, from Henry VIII and Elizabeth I to Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson.

Visit ‘Britain’s Sistine Chapel’, Sir James Thornhill’s breathtaking Baroque Painted Hall and its neighbour, the glorious Chapel of St Peter and Paul. Escape the crowds and discover 40,000 square feet of awe-inspiring painted walls and ceiling.

Named “the most popular filming location in the world” by Empire Magazine, the Old Royal Naval College is the setting for hundreds of blockbuster films and TV series including The Pirates of the Caribbean, Les Misérables, The Crown and Poldark.

Opening times are daily all year round 10am -5pm (Closed: 24 – 26 December).

Visitors can explore our two shops onsite for a unique and wonderful shopping experience. There’s a wealth of unusual and inspiring gift ideas to suit a variety of interests. All purchases make a vital contribution towards protecting our heritage for the future.

Your guests can make a day of it and enjoy a leisurely lunch in the Painted Hall Café, grab a coffee at the Visitor Centre cafe, a drink in the Pub or a picnic in the grounds. Look out for our seasonal coffee, snacks and ice-cream pop-up stalls across our grounds. And if you want something a bit special we can arrange private catered events for groups in the Painted Hall Café and Admiral’s House.
