On rare occasions the Painted Hall is closed for events. Please find dates listed below.

Opening Times

Painted Hall, Chapel & Visitor Centre
Daily | 10am-5pm (last entry 4.30pm)

Grounds
Daily | 8am-11pm

Closures

When we are hosting special events, we sometimes need to close areas early. Any early or partial closures will be published on our website below, in advance.

The Painted Hall will close:

  • Thurs 31 July – Sun 3 August – all day
  • Fri 8 – Mon 11 August – all day
  • Wed 15 & Thurs 16 October – all day
  • Mon 27 – Thurs 30 October – all day
  • Mon 26 – Fri 30 January 2026 – all day

The Chapel will close:

  • Fri 4 July – from 3.30pm
  • Mon 14 – Fri 18 July – all day
  • Thurs 31 July – from 3pm
  • Fri 1 August – from 2pm
  • Sat 2 August – from 12pm
  • Fri 8 August – from 12pm
  • Sat 9 August – from 12pm
  • Sun 10 August – from 12pm
  • Mon 27 – Fri 31 October – all day

The Skittle Alley will be closed all day from Thurs 31 July – Thurs 14 August. 

Tours

We run talks throughout the day in the Painted Hall as well as daily tours that are all included in the price of your ticket; simply join a tour on the day.*

*Subject to availability, please ask a member of staff what tours are available on the day.

Daily | hourly from 11am to 3pm

Painted Hall Talks
Daily | every 30 minutes from 11am to 4pm
