To enjoy the very best from a visit to the Old Royal Naval College, give yourself time to take a tour or listen to a talk from one of our expert guides – included in the price of your ticket.
You can either join on the day or book in advance on the hourly 500 Years of History Tour or discover over 60 years of filming history on the grounds with the Film & TV Location Tour.

500 Years of History
Find out more about the history and architecture of the site. The tour covers a period starting from its early years as a Tudor Palace where King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I were born; to its time as the Royal Hospital for Seamen; to the masterpiece you see today built by Sir Christopher Wren.

Film & TV Tours
The Old Royal Naval College has provided the setting for some of the most memorable scenes in major film and TV productions. On this tour you will be taken through over sixty years of filming history both outside on the iconic riverside grounds and inside the magnificent Painted Hall and Chapel.

Painted Hall Talks
A cast of over 200 fascinating characters is assembled on the ceiling and walls of the Painted Hall. Join one of our experts for a 30-minute talk explaining the history and stories behind the painting.
Talks run regularly between 11am and 4pm.

Accessible Tours
We run BSL tours regularly throughout the year.
We also run Audio Described tours which are available for blind and partially-sighted visitors. These tours are led by staff and volunteers who have been trained in audio description by Vocaleyes.
