An expert guide will lead you up the narrow, winding staircase into one of Greenwich’s most intriguing spaces. From this historic vantage point, once used to defend London during the Second World War, you’ll uncover original relics and the powerful stories behind them. 

Get a closer look at the Dome’s fascinating architecture and see the inner workings of the historic turret clock. 

Learn how the Royal Naval College was directly impacted by the war, from the fierce fires that swept along the Thames in 1940 to the air raids that damaged the King Charles building in 1943.

Please read before you book.

Suitability

  • The tour is not suitable for everyone, and you accept full responsibility for your fitness and suitability to take part.
  • You must be fit enough to safely ascend and descend 125 steps without assistance within your time slot.
  • Due to the constraints of the dome, accessible tours, including step-free access are not available.
  • For safety reasons, the use of walking aids (including walking sticks, wheeled walking frames, and crutches) are not permitted, and trained assistance dogs e.g. Guide Dogs are not able to go on the tour.
  • If you have concerns about your ability to undertake the tour, or if you suffer from a medical condition, please consult a medical professional who can advise you before you make a booking. Medical conditions which are particularly important to consider include heart or circulation problems, claustrophobia, vertigo, respiratory disease, epilepsy or if you are pregnant.
  • Any visitor who we may reasonably consider may cause risk of injury to themselves and/or others in taking part will not be admitted to take part on the tour.
  • Children under the age of 14 are not permitted on this tour. Children between aged 14 – 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

On the day of your visit

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the time shown on your ticket. Latecomers will not be admitted.
  • Due to restricted spaces, please do not bring large bags or backpacks. If needed, please ask about luggage storage at the Visitor Centre. In case of inclement weather, there will be space to store coats and umbrellas.
  • For safety reasons, you must attend the briefing at the beginning of the tour which will include details on what to do in an emergency situation.

Footwear

  • The tour includes uneven surfaces and narrow passageways, you must wear sensible footwear. High heels, open toe sandals or stiletto shoes are not permitted as these may cause injury.
  • It is advisable to wear practical clothes – trousers and shorts rather than skirts and dresses.

What to bring

  • We encourage you to bring personal phones and DSLR cameras. However, large lenses, professional equipment or selfie sticks are not permitted.
  • Water (in closed containers) is permitted, but other food or drink is not allowed. Please note that there are no toilet facilities during the course of this tour.

General

  • Bookings are non-refundable or changeable once booked.
  • We reserve the right to postpone tours for a variety of reasons. In the unlikely event this is necessary, we will contact you to reschedule your booking for a later date (dependant on availability and weather condition). If we cannot offer you a suitable alternative date, then you will receive a full refund of the price you paid for your ticket(s) only.
