How to get here

Located beside the River Thames in beautiful Greenwich, we’re a quick journey from central London. We encourage visitors to travel by public transport, on foot or by bike whenever possible.

By DLR and Underground (Tube) 

The closest Docklands Light Railway (DLR) stations are Cutty Sark (3 min walk), Island Gardens (10 min walk) or Greenwich (10 min walk). The DLR connects with other Underground lines at Bank, Canary Wharf, Tower Gateway and Stratford stations. 

Important travel update 

Escalators at Cutty Sark DLR are currently out of service. Access is via 121 steps, so for a step-free or easier journey, we recommend using Greenwich Station for step free access. Please also note that Cutty Sark Station will close from 31 May for around 10 months. 

We strongly recommend checking Transport for London (TfL) before you leave, for any travel updates.  

Alternative option

Take the Jubilee line to North Greenwich Station then get the 188 bus or river boat 1 stop to Greenwich Pier.

By bus 

Bus routes 129, 177, 188,199, 286 and 386 are a short walking distance.

By train 

The nearest rail stations are Greenwich (10 min walk) and Maze Hill (15 min walk). Direct trains run to these stations from London Cannon Street and London Bridge.

By boat 

Start your visit in maritime style with a boat trip to Greenwich Pier, just moments from the Old Royal Naval College.

Fast and frequent services run every 20 minutes from central London including London Eye Pier (45 mins), London Bridge Pier (25 mins) and Tower Pier (20 mins).

City Cruises and Thames River Sightseeing offer regular trips to and from Greenwich, with live commentary and great views of London’s riverside landmarks. 

Accessibility
Greenwich Pier has Europe’s first Ramp Rider, making it easier for wheelchair users to board at all tide levels. 

CYCLING AND WALKING

The Thames Path is a scenic walking route that follows the River Thames through London. At Greenwich, it runs along the north bank, but you can cross to the south via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, which brings you out right by our Visitor Centre. 

Greenwich is also well connected to the National Cycle Network, and can be reached by traffic-free routes. The cycle path runs from Lewin Gate at Cutty Sark Gardens to Trafalgar Gate at Park Row, with bike racks available outside the Visitor Centre and The Old Brewery. 

By car

If you’re planning to visit by car, please be aware that we don’t offer parking facilities, except for visitors with access requirements. Car parking for blue badge holders is available in the Park Row car park, opposite the East Gate entrance.  

The is limited parking in Greenwich, and we encourage you to use public transport whenever possible. Paid car parking is available in Park Row (SE10 9NL) and Cutty Sark Gardens. Find a public car park in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and view information about parking spaces available.
