The Old Royal Naval College has been shortlisted in the Location of the Year – Site/Man-Made category at the 2026 Global Production Awards, held on 18 May during the 79th Cannes Film Festival. The nomination recognises the site’s contribution to film and television production and its creative importance in storytelling.

The award celebrates a single site or built location that has played an important role across one or more film and television productions. Nominees are judged on the impact of the location, its versatility, and the quality of support and services provided to production teams.

The Old Royal Naval College also had a wider presence across this year’s awards. Jurassic World Rebirth, which features the Painted Hall in its opening shot, won the Sustainable Production Award (Film), underlining the site’s contribution to major international productions.

Presented by Screen International, the Global Production Awards celebrate outstanding and sustainable work in film and television production, locations and studios around the world. The nomination also highlights the Old Royal Naval College’s growing reputation as a major filming location for global studios, drawn to its historic architecture, cinematic scale and versatility.

Recent productions continue to demonstrate that appeal. Newly released feature film Jack Ryan: Ghost War by Amazon MGM Studios used the site as an iconic London backdrop for a pivotal car explosion and high-speed chase sequence. The Old Royal Naval College is no stranger to the Tom Clancy franchise, having previously appeared in the explosive opening scenes of the 1992 Harrison Ford film Patriot Games
