A Paw-fect Sunday: Old Royal Naval College hosts the inaugural Greenwich Dog Show
The Old Royal Naval College hosted the inaugural Greenwich Dog Show on Sunday 28 May. As a dog-friendly venue in the heart of Maritime Greenwich, the location was a fitting host for Greenwich dogs and their owners who were joined throughout the day by a vibrant community of people, taking part in the contest, spectating and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
The categories were Best Rescue Dog, Best Owner Lookalike, Best Dressed Pooch, Prettiest Bitch, Handsome Hound, Best Trick, Glorious Golden Oldie, Cutest Pup, Waggiest Tail and Scruffiest Dog.
The winners were selected by actress and comedian Nina Wadia (EastEnders and Goodness Gracious Me), Master of Ceremonies for the day Jonathan Coote, Aurélie (owner of celebrity dog Marcel Le Corgi), dog-expert Sara Brady, among others.
There was a range of stallholders selling unique dog products and services, including Fifi’s Dog Haus grooming service, The Clean Dog Company, retailer Wooof, Dog’s Choice Day Care, Blackheath Pet Suppliers, Harbour Hounds, and Kats & Dogs training consultants.
There was also plenty of street food available, plus a puppuccino station at the Old Brewery and doggy ice-cream, which was a special favourite for the canine visitors.
The ‘Best in Show’ award was given to Vodka, owned by Renata Campos.
One visitor even said this was the “Best event in Greenwich ever”. The Old Royal Naval College will plan to host the event again next year, so follow us on social media or sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about it.
