Salon Evening with stars Hugh Bonneville, Robert Bathurst, Jane Asher, Anthony Ofoegbu & Lisa McGrillis
Thu 9 Jan 20
Greenwich’s iconic Old Royal Naval College has announced an exclusive Salon Evening on 23rd January 2020. Guest artists, including British national treasures Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, ITV; Paddington), Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet, Downton Abbey, ITV) and Anthony Ofoegbu (Moonfleet, Bad Day), Jane Asher (Alfie; Death at a Funeral), and Lisa McGrillis (Noises Off; Mum, BBC 2) are taking part to support the continued conservation of the Old Royal Naval College’s magnificent Baroque buildings.
The Salon Evening, A Play for Five Voices and a Painted Hall, is a semi-staged reading of monologues reverently and irreverently telling the stories of the men and women whose faces gaze down at us in the stunning Painted Hall. The stories are written especially for the Salon Evening by renowned West End playwright, screenwriter and 18th-century specialist Ian Kelly. Kelly’s former works include hit play Mr Foote’s Other Leg and biographical works Beau Brummel, Vivienne Westwood and Casanova, which was translated for the stage by Northern Ballet in 2017.
Tickets for the Salon Evening are available for £40. Arrival and welcome drinks are at 19:00, and the readings begin at 19:30 in the beautiful Painted Hall, followed by an after-party bar until 22:00.
Guest artists are taking part in support of the Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College. Subject to availability.
