Plan A Visit

Welcome back to Greenwich’s grandest square this spring, with a host of activities to enjoy on our expansive riverside grounds.

Funded by the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. The Culture Recovery Fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, using funds provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Outdoor Tours

Adults £5 / Children FREE / Annual Pass holders FREE

The tours are an insightful look at the history of the site, from the Tudors to now, and tell the stories of why the buildings were built, who lived in them, and what life was like over our 500 years of history, hosted by our expert guides.

When you arrive, check in outside our Visitor Centre with your tour 5-10 minutes before the tour starts. Tours run daily at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and last 45 minutes.

Smartify Tours

Download the free Smartify app and search “Old Royal Naval College” to explore our grounds with three fantastic self-guided tours.

For those of you visiting with children aged 5 – 12 years, try the exciting Building Detectives Tour, which will lead you on a scavenger hunt around our beautiful outdoor spaces.

Our Architecture Tour will inspire you to discover the stories behind the site’s incredible architecture, exploring our grounds at your own pace. Or venture into Greenwich with the Black Greenwich Pensioners Tour, learning about key local sites that reveal previously hidden stories about the Black Pensioners who lived at the Royal Hospital.

You can also explore our tours from the comfort of home, with Smartify’s new desktop experience.

Shop With Us

From 12 April, both of our shops will be open, with our extensive range of gifts and souvenirs. Discover our wide range of books, souvenirs, jewellery and homewares, including exclusive bespoke ranges from local artists.

If you’re not yet able to join us in person, our online shop is fully stocked with all of our visitor favourites – or why not take a look at what’s on offer before your visit?

We’re also delighted to welcome the London Makers Market back to our grounds this spring, as part of our First Sunday initiative, from 2 May. London Makers Market brings together a broad collection of talented independent designers, both online, and in different locations around London.

History Riot

When you visit us on Sundays in April, be sure to look out for History Riot‘s costumed characters, bringing history to life with interactive moments across our grounds. Don’t forget to show us who you meet when you tag us on our social media channels!

Food and Drink

The Painted Hall café will be open for takeaways to enjoy on our grounds, and we’ll also have local food and drink stalls – there are lots of options, so check the weather and plan a picnic. Our onsite pub, the Old Brewery, is also open for outdoor bookings from 12 April.

We are looking forward to opening the Nick Ellwood exhibition Mischief and Misadventure when we reopen in May, closely followed by Gaia in the Painted Hall. Why not come back and see us again then?
