Dog Show – FAQs

We cannot wait to welcome you to our inaugural Dog Show on Sunday 28 May, 2023.

What time does the Dog Show start and finish?

The first class kicks off at 11am with registration from 10.30am. There are 10 categories so if all runs to plan, the show should finish at 2.30pm. The Street Market, Dog supplies stalls, Face Painting and Bars will continue until 5pm and the live music until 4.15pm.

Where is the entrance to the Show?

You can enter via any of the gates but the registration for the Dog Show is on the King Charles Lawns opposite the Old Brewery.

Are all facilities dog-friendly?

No. Due to our status as a Grade I listed building, we need to ensure the site is protected. Therefore, dogs are not permitted inside the Visitor Centre and Painted Hall.

However, dogs are allowed in all of our lawn areas and the Old Brewery.

How much is the entrance fee to the Show?

It’s free to spectate but £5 to enter your pooch into a category.

Do you have to have a dog to attend the Show?

No. Everyone is welcome with or without dogs.

How do I know what time the various classes are?

The schedule is on the website listing. On the day, the full timetable will be available at the Registration Desk.

How do I know which ring is which?

The rings are numbered. You will see a sign at the entrance to each ring with a number on it.

How do I enter my dog into a class?

To register online, go to our booking page. Once you have registered and paid, you will receive a confirmation email which you will need to bring to the Show.

You can also register on the day. Just come to the Registration Desk with your email and dog's name.

You will be given an armband with your number which you need to wear in all the classes you enter.

Please note, there are a limited number of places available for entry on the day, so we suggest signing up sooner rather than later.

Who gets a prize?

The dogs that come 1st in each class win a prize and a rosette, 2nd and 3rd place also gets a rosette. All participants receive a bag of dog treats from Kats and Dogs. The winner of ‘Best in Show’ and Judge's Choice will also receive a trophy.

Who participates in the ‘Best in Show’ class?

The winning dog from each class automatically enters the ‘Best in Show’ class.

How does Judge's Choice work?

The judges will select their three favourite dogs from previous categories.

What type of refreshments are available at the Show?

The Street Food market serves a selection of delicious global food and our bar serves Gin, Pimms and wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.

The Old Brewery is a dog friendly Youngs Pub situated right next to the Dog Show.

If you would like to eat at the Old Brewery, we recommend booking in advance.

If I lose someone at the show, what should I do?

Go to the Registration Desk and they will notify the organisers and announcements will be made over the PA system.

Please tell children to go to the Registration Desk or ask for help from anyone wearing a Hi-Viz jacket if they are lost.

Are there any rules dog owners should be aware of during the show?

Yes. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. There are also free poo bags available so please ensure you clear up after your dog.

Are there toilets on site?

Yes, toilets are situated in the Undercroft Café, Visitor Centre and Old Brewery.
