Christmas at the Old Royal Naval College

Join us for a thrilling musical adaptation of a classic Christmas story, carols and more this festive season at the Old Royal Naval College.

In the magnificent, unique setting of the Painted Hall, Goblin Theatre will present a vibrant new adaptation of Charles Dickens’s spooky classic tale A Christmas Carol from 3-30 December.

Family Activities

On 12 December, enjoy the free Make History day, where kids can have a go making mini wreaths and Christmas crackers just like the ones made in Victorian times.  On 19 December, children can use props and percussion in a free workshop which delves into the story of Scrooge and the ghosts who come to inspire him to change his ways in Scrooge Spooked.

Join us for Twixmas Shanties in the lull between Christmas and New Year on 29 and 30 December to listen to sea shanties being performed, learn what they were all about, and even join in yourselves.

Christmas Shopping

From 22 November, the Old Royal Naval College ‘pop-up’ Christmas shop will open on King William Walk, with gifts, cards, wrapping paper and Christmas decorations.

Chapel Concerts

This December, experience three beautiful Christmas concerts in our Neo-Classical Chapel.

Support the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice with a carol concert on 3 December which retells the Christmas story with special readings and a torch-lit procession.

On 5 December, join the Trinity Laban Chapel Choir as they present Handel’s Messiah in a performance sure to leave you in the Christmas spirit.

A Traditional Carol Service of Lessons and Carols takes place on 13 December. Join the Chaplain and the Chapel Choir for this service, looking forward to Christmas.

Festive Food and Drink

There will be outdoor food and drink stalls in the riverside grounds, on 11/12 and 18/19 December, perfect for a warming mulled wine. In the Painted Hall Café, you can enjoy Christmas cakes, mulled cider and other festive treats from 27 November.
